First Grade Teacher
Tidewater Waldorf, located in beautiful Savannah Georgia, is looking for a Lead First Grade Teacher for our part-time program.
Responsibilities
The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating the magical environment of the First Grade classroom. They are asked to create and carry out main lessons with art, circle time and songs, poems and integrative movement, and story. The teacher sets the rhythm and sense of order in the classroom while also holding a gentle space for children to feel safe and welcome to learn.
Teacher is Responsible for:
Creating and implementing First Grade curriculum blocks for Math and Language Arts based in Waldorf Pedagogy
Creating a weekly and daily schedule that follows the Waldorf Pedagogy
Creating strong classroom boundaries and managing classroom in a gentle but firm manner
Regular parent communication and education
Participating in the life of the community, festivals and faculty meetings
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate has completed, or is completing, their Waldorf teacher training, has teaching experience in a Waldorf classroom, and is committed to lifelong learning and professional growth.
This is a part time position that allows a healthy work/life balance for both the teachers and families. We have found that our hybrid program creates a space to slow down in our lives and keep our energy recharged for our classroom work. Even though this is a part time position there are many opportunities for teachers to expand their work through other school wide offerings.
Work Hours and Compensation
Part-time position for three half days
$20,000 - $22,000 based on experience
